COREY:

COREY
Summer 2002 - April 23, 2009

In Loving Memory of Corey Miller Ricktor

Corey was born in the early summer of 2002. He was the only polydactyl (24 toes in all!) among a litter of abandoned kittens found in the ski boat on Corey Lake at Camp Eberhart in Three Rivers, Michigan.

It was my son's 5th year at Camp and he was 13. By the end of the camp season, Corey had been hand-fed, nurtured and loved by counselors and campers alike. One particular camper, my son, looked forward to "Corey duty" and by the end of summer, they had formed a very special bond. So, Corey left Michigan with us and we all flew back to California where he became a wonderful brother to Luna kitty and Hoss doggie. I too spent my summers on Corey Lake at Camp Eberhart in the 60's. Just looking into the eyes of my sweet cat brought made me think of this special place where he, my son and I had all shared a summer. How I hated to see his light go out yesterday. But it will shine on for me and now he has opened a place in my heart and my home to save one more life. Corey would want that.
